Newcastle Male Voice Choir has a long and distinguished history. It was originally formed in 1910 as Silverdale Male Voice in the Staffordshire coal mining village of Silverdale in the 800 year old Borough of Newcastle under Lyme and birthplace of Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Cooke - Prime Minister of Australia

In 1943 the Choir was renamed as Newcastle Male Voice Choir.  An ever changing repertoire strives to combine the best of the Male Voice Tradition with some of the latest songs and arrangements. Selections range from works by Bizet to Cole Porter and popular songs include ABBA's 'Thank You For The Music'  specially arranged for the Choir.

We aim to: positively support and raise the profile of  Newcastle and North Staffordshire through our singing, recording, advertising and through electronic mediums. We believe that the forging of local, regional, national and international links  benefits us, our community and the organisations and persons with whom we work

Other famous names born in the area  include Josiah Wedgwood (potter) ; Capt. Edward J. Smith (Titanic) footballer Sir Stanley Matthews and British  pop stars Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes (son of our former president).
